yesterday the mo had to go - no frothy lather involved, just a get the fuck off my face kind of shave.
funny, so many guys in my office seemed to have the same problem when they got home from work
today is the last day of movember and many men are rejoicing at now being able to lose the irritating facial hair that they have adorned or tried to grow for the past month
the guys who i have spoken to (husband included) can't wait to see the back of the god damn mo
i'm sure some guys had to abandon ship early due to shaving mishaps or misread calendars, or wifely intervention - soft cocks! ah well, there's always next year to go the distance.
this was dave's first year into mo-dom and he did pretty fine. raised about 265 bucks and i secretly think he admired his sprout - it's pretty impressive.
my monday didn't start out like any other monday. dave had the flu and i had to catch the bus to work with the stinky people.
morning coffee wasn't at my usual ugees, but rather a nameless place close to work that i will never return to cause the coffee was SHIT
following that shit coffee, the day was going fine, until about lunch time when i felt a little palpitation, oh, then another, then a really big one which made me feel funny
hmmm, i thought, this is odd, so i rang my doctor - cause i had to see him about something else anyway, and they just happened to have a spot pretty much straight away.
so, off i trot, tell him what's happening and he looks at me in the befuddled way that sometimes doctors do, and says right, lets do an ECG! WTF. there was no LOL for me.
so i then have to endure the indignity of having some strange lady from the reception desk hook me up to the machine and make small talk while she does so.
ECG over, and it looks all normal.
my doctor is so thorough that he then wants to send me for a chest xray and also an urgent blood test to rule out any heart problem.
really, i am thinking, it was the bad bad coffee that's done this to me.
so he says, dear, if you were 25 i wouldn't be so concerned, but you are now in the middle ages. OMFG!
now, i want you to have two days off and follow this advice.
seriously, i have to cut out my three favourite things....
skip to thursday back at the doctor - so dear, how have you been feeling. FINE, i say.
all the heart tests are good, but i just want to have another listen to make sure you don't have a heart murmur. oh my god - is he the heart whisperer?
well dear, we did find something in your blood test that we need to talk about. your glucose was a bit high.
hmmm, i think
so we probably need to look at this and guess what he writes me another advice
geez man, you could have just said i am a bit of a fatty boombah....i can take it, cause i am in my middle ages after all and i have had half a life time of learning how to deal with the hard conversations. i don't need a piece of paper to stick on the fridge to remind me.
And Yes - i will be hitting the treadmill, the pool, the pavement, taking the stairs, getting my 30 mins a day, 10,000 steps, being in it for life, etc, etc, etc....but i will not be doing it in any form of ill fitting lycra.
you know your are old when you say to your partner let's go upstairs and make love sorry, they say, i can't do both!
Mr Movember
he's still sporting his germy, man flu, serial killer, trucker, chopper reid look
i'm not going to muck around and make you wait for the first recipe share cause this easy arse dinner is perfect for a night lounging on the couch.
BURGERS AND FRIES
but, i do like to fake it up with a fake burger.
1. whack some oven bake chips in to cook
2. get a bun
3. get a fake burger
4. get some real salad - slice of lettuce, bit of beetroot, tomato, cucumber and don't forget the sauce
5. while the chips are taking forever to cook, fry a bit of onion and if you want the real bbq feel, slosh a bit of beer in
6. when the chips are nearly ready (in my world it's like forever) heat up that fake burger
7. assemble the burger in which ever order takes your fancy
8. then serve it up
but of course, if you don't have any of this stuff in the cupboard, then your fucked and you'll probably need to order chinese
and as i am always on the lookout for tasty treats, here's some others - don't want to be near anyone when they eat that!
and an inspring vegan meal - oooh, is that an egg?
it was about the end of july when i posted about getting my dot com and you can read all about that at www.forty-four.tumblr.com
it's taken me so long to get it sorted, but finally after much tooing and froing between wordpress trials and disaster, i have gone with this blogging mob
i can't believe it would be so hard to get it organised, but alas my journey into html coding (if that's what it's called) was short, but not very sweet and i did a couple of test posts and a lot of fiddling, cause who doesn't like a fiddle and here i am.
my last post was in september, when i finished my year long photo a day journey and now, i have nothing, literally nothing, but the opportunity to wing it and blog about whatever takes my fancy.
So what better time to start blogging and support the MOVEMBER cause, when a lot of folically challenged guys try their hardest to grow something above their top lip
People used to be inspired by this man, the marlborough man -He was the Most Influential Man Who Never Lived.
but all that smoking and influencing has obviously caught up with them and now we need a worthy fund to help the guys.
