DSTSS - you're GREAT!

46. Every day, tell at least one person something you like, admire, or appreciate about them.

Earlier this year, i was at a conference that i organised and i caught part of this short film that was being played in one of the sessions.  Of course my curiosity got the best of me and i had to check it out cause it looked so happy and i've held on to it for chapter 46.  I don't think i could sum up this chapter any better than is done in this award winning short film, called Validation.

We all need validation, we all need to hear good things about ourselves, and to say good things to others cause it can make a difference. It may also be contagious.  Tell your kids, tell your partner, tell the dog, tell your boss (well depends on the boss), tell the postie, tell a tree, tell your family, tell yourself - YOU'RE GREAT!

I used to hate compliments.  Sadly, what i saw in myself isn't what other people saw and through a process of learning to love myself and others more, i became accepting and appreciative of validation towards me. But it took time, for me to not squirm inside, and that's okay.
Even urban dictionary is getting in on the greatness action.  I know that my husband often asks why i don't say bless you after he sneezes, and clearly, i was waiting for an alternative.
Note to self: I'm reminded that everyone has a story - a part to them we may never see, but may explain why people do the weird and wonderful things we do.  Tell someone today, how great they are. Even look in the mirror and tell yourself how great you are! What if by saying something that makes a person feel better about them self, makes all the difference to their story.
